Smoggie Queens shows how far BBC comedy has fallen, says Steven Tucker. Let's be honest, there's only one reason the corporation made this awful TV programme, and it's certainly not because it's funny.

Rebels Against the Pipeline
Rebels Against the Pipeline

We're organising a fundraiser 'Rebels Against the Pipeline' for the people of Rossport in their struggle against the Shell pipe line and I'm looking for as much support as possible in order to raise much needed funds and raise awareness..

On Monday February 20th the Belmullet courthouse in Co. Mayo was full of campaigners opposing the Corrib Gas Project. Nineteen people were facing 80 charges between them for civil disobedience, and that week was set aside as a special sitting for the campaigners.
The week was extremely significant in determining how the state deals with peaceful protest. Anyone who is concerned with the current 'state of affairs' in terms of the bank and developer bailout and resulting austerity, fracking, household tax, and other issues which have and will result in civil disobedience should watch the proceedings with interest.

From the sheer amount of charges it is clear that the Gardaํ are trying to quash the protests which have been peaceful for the last ten years by coming down heavily on people. These people received heavy fines.

We are hoping to raise some money to help them pay the fines they incurred, some of Corks finest bands are coming together to support the people of
Rossport in their struggle against the controversial Shell pipeline.
