Hare Coursing Now History In The North

category national | animal rights | press release author Wednesday August 17, 2011 23:31author by Bernie Wright - Association of Hunt Saboteursauthor address AOHS PO Box 4734. d 1author phone 0872651720 Report this post to the editors

Irish coursing Club should be consigned to history books

We welcome today’s news for the sake of gentle coursed hares in the North of Ireland.

A six county BAN ON HARE COURSING IN EFFECT FROM TODAY!

Hare Coursing is dying...thankfully!
Hare Coursing is dying...thankfully!

However hares in the 26 counties are unlucky as mauling, terrorising and using them for cruel sports is still perfectly legal. The cloth- cap wearing  Coursing community are still hanging in there and abusing animals despite infighting on Greyhound forums-see Greyhound knowledge forum and greyhound nuts, and crippling court cases involving the Irish coursing Club.

We in the AOHS are hoping this year’s SINN FEIN ‘ARD FEIS’ will be beneficial to Irelands wildlife by reversing their current confusing pro- Coursing stance, this policy was anti in the past but delegates are divided on the issue. Today’s news, we believe, should especially concentrate the minds of delegates at the forthcoming Sinn Fein Ard Fheis, to be held on September 9th and 10th of September in Belfast.

We hope to hold some persuasive demonstrating outside the Sinn Fein offices soon before the forthcoming Ard Feis to focus the issue on 9th 10th September

The party has been officially pro-hare coursing owing to a controversial motion passed at the 2010 Ard Fheis. We want them to reverse that position at this year’s event, there is no reason to condone the blatent abuse of gentle creatures for gambling purposes and for the amusement of the sadistic minority.

I earnestly hope that Sinn Fein will adopt a stance against this immensely cruel practice at its forthcoming Ard Fheis. I'm sure the party will benefit politically from doing so. SF stands up for human rights so now it ought to strike a blow for the unfortunate hares that are terrorized for a laugh at these festivals of cruelty.
