It has. And this link to a story in today's Guardian shows it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/15/g20-protest-po...logue Corporate media a few years ago had very little or no interest in the predictable response from the state to protesters who questioned the nature of the system and questioned capitalism. At this link the Guardian has a pile of videos showing police brutality against London 2009 G20 protesters. It’s fairly tame stuff for anyone who has been with a few metres of the riot squad really going for it, but none the less it is shocking stuff for most Guardian readers: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/15/g20-protest-po...logue ... read full story / add a comment

international / animal rights Sunday April 05, 2009 - 17:57 by Sea Lion Defense Brigade
In the Northwest United States, on the Columbia river, a war is being waged against Nature. Humans are at war with the fish, with the sea lions, and with the river itself. As fishing industry is killing off tens of thousands of endangered salmon, and the Bonneville dam is killing of tens of thousands more, wildlife "managers" are executing sea lions as scapegoats so that they can raise fishing quotas yet again, for the third year in a row, on the endangered salmon. The sea lions are supposed to be congressionally protected, but wildlife "managers" claim that they must kill off predators in order to leave more fish for fishermen to kill in their nets. PLEASE HELP US to stop this. ... read full story / add a comment

Yassamine Mather outlines why the demands put on Iran by Obama cannot be met. Yassamine also analyses developments regarding the upcoming elections in Iran. Full article at the link. Obama’s message to Iranians to mark Norooz, the Iranian new year, was hailed by sections of the media as “unprecedented” and “historic”, offering a new beginning in Iran-US relations. It was therefore inevitable that when ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme religious leader, dismissed the message as consisting of meaningless slogans, Middle East and Iran ‘analysts’ expended a lot of effort trying to put a positive spin on a very unambiguous negative response. ... read full story / add a comment

The man the Newsletter calls “the respected journalist Henry McDonald,” the Newsletter's Ireland correspondent - sorry, mistake, the Guardian's Ireland correspondent - calls students who drank a lot on St Patrick's Day 'Catholic/nationalist'. What's more, they are 'rural', shock horror. Ticks all the prejudicial boxes - cannot be allowed. But how does Henry know? It's easy: 'judging from the Gaelic football and Glasgow Celtic shirts, as well as the names of those the PSNI decided to arrest'. Would the Guardian publish this type of drivel about the Notting Hill carnival? No because in that case it would be racist. In this case it is merely sectarian, while claiming not to be. ... read full story / add a comment
