Irish pork is being widely recalled because a percent of it was found dioxin contaminated. Governments acknowledge the harms and dangers of dioxin...a by-product of industrial chlorine. But other far more dangerous sources of dioxin, namely typical chlorine-contaminated cigarettes, are being ignored. ... read full story / add a comment

The recent 'Nationwide' programme on the national broadcastor RTE, on the life and times of 'Irishmen in British uniform' on their day to day life in Aldershot army barracks in England as they prepare for combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, and perhaps even to the country that gave them birth, peddled a pro-British pro-unionist line that implied both the Irish and British armies are synonymous with each other. Despite the fact that the British army has been engaged in the blatent murder of Irish citizens since colonisation right up to present times, RTE, in the making of this programme, acted like a recruiting agency for the foreign army that continues to colonise six counties of this island. The behaviour of RTE in this matter is both unsavoury and sordid and acts against the national interest. ... read full story / add a comment

Despite rightwing media attempts to portray Barack Obama as a covert Muslim during the U.S. Presidential election campaign, his appointment of pro-Israel hard-liner Rahm Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff indicates that there will be no change in American policy toward Israel/Palestine. ... read full story / add a comment

My book Bad Hare Days is generating a lot of controversy, not unexpected given the long running debate on the ethics of live hare coursing in Ireland. I can accept criticism, but not the bullying and the blind unreasoning hatred that my legitimate opposition to this so called sport has elicited from some coursing fans ... read full story / add a comment |
