Saturday, 03.09.05 The tara SOS week programme of protests will be launched with a 1 hour protest commencing 10am at Dublin Castle on Saturday 03.09.05. This protest will coincide with the Themed tour and readings titled 'The Irish Revolution (1913-23' in Dublin Castle. Later in the day at 1.30pm (September 3rd) a later protest will also be held at the same venue to coincide with the O'Carolan harp recital in Dublin Castle at 1.30 in the afternoon New Placards, and leaflets covering tara's history, lore and heroes will be launched. The National Roads Authority holds its annual seminar on Recent Archaeological Discoveries on Road Schemes at the Gresham Hotel on Thursday 15th September. There is another M3 Route available which does not pass through the tara valley. It is 3.5km shorter, passes tara 5km away, and is €50m cheaper than the current route. It also offers the possibility of linking Trim to the M3. read full story / add a comment

All welcome to an action at the M50 tollbridge on Friday the 19th August at 3.30pm. Focus will be on raising awareness amonst the commuting public that the proposed M3 is to be tolled in both directions; will not reduce commuting times; is mired in dodgy land transfers and rezoning; and will all but destroy the most significant heritage site on the island. In the Supreme Court on the 21st December 1972, Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh delivered judgment on the legality of the compulsory purchase by the State of a site below the four hundred feet contour lines on tara. In the judgement, he stated: 'the Hill of tara is properly to be regarded as a single unified site and not a series of separate archaeological monuments.' read full story / add a comment
