Irish Aid is launching a Pilot Virtual Online Volunteering programme for 20 volunteers over 6 months. The purpose of this exercise is to increase awareness of online volunteering using experiences gained through this pilot programme. Virtual Online Volunteers will be linked with developmental NGOs through the UNV Online Volunteering Service to work for sustainable development on various projects around the world. read full story / add a comment

A bit of rain didn't stop thousands from taking to the streets of Dublin to celebrate what is now a fixture in the Irish calendar and to campaign for Marraige Equality for same sex relationships. This year saw the 25th anniversary and homage was paid to the years of campaigning and how far Irish society has come. This Referendum had a majority turnout of the electorate. The reason the Nice treaty could be put to a re-vote is because there wasn't a majority turnout. So the Lisbon treaty can't be put to a re-vote. read full story / add a comment

TaraWatch received notification on Thursday 5th June, from the World Archaeological Congress (WAC), Committee on Ethics, that it has been recognised as stakeholders in the ongoing Hill of tara / M3 issue for purposes of a round table session at the upcoming Sixth World Archaeological Congress, (WAC-6) to be held at University College Dublin, from the 29th June to 4th July, which will be debating the ethics of the M3 / Hill of tara issue. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, wants to nominate the Hill of tara to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. But he is happy to allow the M3 motorway to be constructed through the middle of the site. Help us lobby the Irish branch of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) , and demand that the M3 be rerouted away from the tara complex, before it is declared a World Heritage Site. read full story / add a comment
