This is 200 students, a lake, a generator,a bonfire, cd-decks,speakers, dutch gold, buckfast, rubbish bags, trees, bushes, flowers and lots and lots and lots of fun. Coming together at the exhortation of Craic Soc, the last day of the academic year was celebrated by the students of UCD in the most open way possible. For hours we trickled behind the Vet building, to a place fondly called 'Lake2', or Tir na nOg for those that discovered it first. read full story / add a comment

ideas and Ideologies – Davy Carlin 10/01/05 For, The Blanket, Indy media and Street Seen As an activist I have been involved in many campaigns over the last few years. From Anti Sectarianism, to Anti War, Anti Globalisation, to Anti Racism, Anti Privatisation to Anti Poverty and in each I have witnessed various movements, some mass, others less so. Nevertheless within each of them I had both seen and played an active part with others in initiating the coming together of not only peoples, Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter but of diverse organisations, groups and individual activists. Yet with all of these having been termed as being ‘Anti’ and against, what exactly then are we for. read full story / add a comment

dublin / anti-capitalism / opinion/analysis Wednesday October 20, 2004 13:55 by James O'Brien
This is the text of the talk I gave a couple of weeks back at the Irish Social Forum. A number of workshops were merged into that one, the SWP had requested one on the Party and the Anti-Capitalist movment, ourselves on anarchism, and somebody else on alliances, fronts and left organisations. So this talk concentrated on introducing anarchist ideas on and left it up to the discussion from the floor afterwards to see where things went. Kieran Allen of the SWP and Dermot Connelly formerly of the Socialist Party spoke from a Marxist-Leninist viewpoint. Thanks to all the people in the ISF for putting the work in to make the weekend, at least, possible. read full story / add a comment
