Bundoran has the most scenic views of the Donegal Bay, Dartry Mountains of Leitrim and a coastline accessible to everyone. We preserved our old historical buildings and respected our community atmosphere. In the last twelve years Bundoran Town Council has allowed Planning corruption erode the very HEART of Bundoran and now the greedy developers and certain Corrupt Councillors want to destroy our Foreshore not or enhancement but to built apartment blocks on the most beautiful coastline in ireland. In the last twelve years the population of Bundoran has decreased now these greedy developers want to destroy Bundorans Sealife. read full story / add a comment

Have heard from two reliable sources that Squeek has left the tunnel at Rath Lugh. She left with Gardai and some of her family present. The Gardai have taken her away from the site as far as I am aware. Here's hoping for 100 to take her place. Tara is THE symbol of dead-end corruption and anti-democratic government in ireland. The dictatorship of the developers. Pitting people against each other. Well done Squeek. Takes a lot of nerve. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The giveaway of ireland's natural gas is a far greater corruption than anything the Mahon Tribunal is likely to uncover, according to Patricia McKenna of the Green Party. The former MEP was also critical of her Green Party colleague, Minister Eamon Ryan. She is speaking at a public meeting in Dublin this Thursday, March 13th at 7pm at the ATGWU Hall in Middle Abbey St, organised by the Dublin Shell to Sea campaign. Other speakers include journalist Frank Connolly and Micheál Ó Seighin, one of the Rossport Five. Event notice: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/86541 read full story / add a comment

The giveaway of a public beach to developers while 6,000 objections ignored. Here corruption is exposed. Most people however get to confused to understand the corruption but do not be fooled. None of the usual 'campaigners' bothered to fight this corruption and when delegates from our group went to a public meeting in Co.Dublin and brought up what is happening in Greystones, they were not bothered listening. read full story / add a comment

This past Saturday, a van load of pilgrims en route to the Festival of St Brigid in Kildare were stopped by the Irish Special Branch. We were questioned under Section 31 of the Offences Against the State Act and a detective accused me of being a terrorist. The paradigm shifts evident in this event are of concern and worth consideration. read full story / add a comment

Really quite a miscellany of human interest stories this one. Naples is notorious throughout Europe for its rubbish problem, which for many is blamed on the intransigence of the Comora or Napolitan mafia who sabotage every attempt to provide the city with incineration facilities. Over the Christmas the Italian military were sent into the city to clean up mountains of household waste which quite simply has nowhere to go. Today the Italian state has appointed a "garbage czar" to sort it out. Meanwhile the Peoples' Republic of China is to ban plastic bags in an attempt to stop pollution in its land. Very thought provoking. & there is a spat in Italy between a bishop and family members over plans to exhume & display the body of Padre Pio the patron saint of "January blues". read full story / add a comment

It is not so easy to build a time line on the issue of Tara and all that this entails. For starters the issue began many years ago and the campaigns have largely evolved with new people coming on to help as was necessitated, however, the General Election of 2007 provided a useful focus and of course saw a corrupt Minister for Environment replaced by one who is morally inept and constitutionally Hamstrung.. but I will give it a go. http://www.savetara.com/articles/2007/122707_contractor....html read full story / add a comment

The reality is that ireland is now firmly in the imperialist camp in world affairs alongside the US/UK. In four crucial areas of foreign policy – Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Palestine – ireland is fully behind the US/UK in their aggressive behaviour towards the Muslim world. You will search in vain in the Programme for Government for any mention of actual policy – past, present or future – on Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Palestine. But it is a racing certainty that, despite the presence of the Green Party, the new government will continue to support (a) the US/UK wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; (b) the US/UK punishment of Iran for enriching uranium, which is Iran’s right as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT); and (c) the US/UK backing for the Israeli occupation and colonisation of Arab lands. read full story / add a comment

The Irish Times this Morning 08/09/09 features headlines regarding Eamon Ryan's 'Signal' that the Green Party may be supporting the Referendum on the EU proposed for this country in 2008. The paper's Front page states that Minister Ryan believes that the 'accrued benefits' of EU membership signal a change in attitude by the Greens toward their EU policy. This is media manipulation of the highest order which accomplishes two things:- 1. It assures investors in Corporate Europe that the Greens are 'onside'. 2.It is part of a campaign instigated by Dick Roche TD, who assumes responsibility for both selling the public and manistream media the benefits of EU expansion and corporatism. read full story / add a comment
