How can we be protected from the sort of fraud we have endured over the last few years? How can we improve risk evaluation and keep our guard? It should start at school, with children taught to think for themselves.

Paul Muldoon (author of Horse Latitudes) writes in a recent New York Times article about the destruction of rich archaeological and heritage sites along the route of the proposed M3. Muldoon goes a good job of conveying the historical and archaeological significance of Tara and the "interesting" position of Bertie Ahern. read full story / add a comment

A massive prehistoric ‘henge’ site has been discovered in Lismullen, beside the Hill of Tara on the route of the planned M3 Motorway. The circular enclosure is the size of more than three football fields, and is without doubt a national monument because of the rarity of henges in Ireland, as well as its importance to the Hill of Tara archaeological complex.
Featuring a press conference given by TaraWatch, the video (see link below) gives details of the M3 Motorway, what lies in its path, what has been destroyed, and what is being now being threatened with destruction.

Construction was held up on Fri 18th on the controversial M3 in the Tara Valley by a peaceful demonstration. A small group of concerned active citizens congregated at Rath Lugh at 5:30am. When workers arrived at 6:10am, they were unable to get their vehicles on site and gathered on the N3. The workers seemed unaware that the carpark they were using is the newly closed archeological site at Roestown.

Experts had warned for years that the M3 should never have been routed through the Gabhra (Tara-Skreen) Valley.
What we refer to today as a “henge” are two related architectural forms that come from the late Neolithic and the early Bronze age. They date from about 2500 to 1800BC and may consist of banks, earth enclosures and also timber circles and that is what we have in this case. Rath Medb at is an example of the earthen enclosure. The best known henge is of course Stonehenge. read full story / add a comment

Two days ago no-one accused Segolene Royal of scare-tactics, dirty electioneering, or any kind of pre-Uachtaran vulgarity when she remarked that riots would greet a Sarkozy victory.

Accordingly 3,000 riot cops were deployed in central Paris. All the riots where kids burned cars before were in the periphery. To the relief of the establishment the anger didn't leave the ugly quarters.

Then Sarkozy won. Overall on 85% of electorate with 50.19%. In posh central 16ème arrondissement where he will now live "in a certain insecurity" he got 80.81% but out in ugliesville 20ème arrondissement Paris he only got 35.37%.

What was ugliesville to do? Burn their buses and be ignored again? read full story / add a comment

reached then the matter gets referred to the Supreme Court.
