A group of four peace protesters were arrested shortly before midnight on Monday, after spray painting anti-nuclear slogans on the walls of the Faslane Naval Base “Media Reception Centre”. The slogans refer to the presence of British nuclear weapons of mass destruction on board Trident nuclear submarines based at Faslane. All four are members of the Trident Ploughshares disarmament campaign, which is currently holding its annual disarmament camp outside the nearby Coulport nuclear weapons depot. read full story / add a comment

Gemma Bulos has founded a non-profit organisation called " A Single drop "which is helping other organisations with ensuring we all have access to fresh water. She travelled the globe gathering A MILLION VOICE CHOIR for Peace with a song she wrote " WE RISE" which is a great song full of positive lyrics with the culmination being a synchronised sing on Tuesday 21st September 2004 (International Day of Peace and Ceasefire). An extremely rare brooch has been discovered along with the remains of a 10th century woman, aged between 25 and 35, during an archaeological excavation at a site near Finglas in north Dublin.The excavation is taking place at the site of a planned apartment block. Excavations are required under planning regulations before building can begin. The woman's skeleton was intact apart from her feet which were removed when pipes were lain in the area. The closing ditch of a monastery, a number of wells and the defensive ramparts and ditch of the townland of Finglas have also been found. read full story / add a comment |
