I am o8159 Lt. Donal Roche who was forecefully 'retired' by the President in 1969. I have been trying for 33 years to clear my name. The state is refusing me my military files which I need to see the charges against me. They made a security exception against me under F.O.I. Only 3 Officers have been fired under this draconian "in the interests of the service" rule in 50 years. Recently I lost my struggle for 'discovery' in the courts because of delay. Anyone who heard my pleas on the Marion Finucane show Fri. 4th should contact both the show (1850 715 105) and the taoiseach (taoiseach@taoiseach.irlgov.ie) if they wish to support my struggle. My disgrace was used to destroy my Sister Adi's bid for the Presidency in 1997 by the same faceless secret forces who framed me back in 1969. I USUALLY save the I-told-you-so gloat for the year-in-review column, but I can't resist noting that Yasser Arafat's Fatah organisation has now come round to my way of thinking on the Jenin refugee camp. "There was no massacre," I wrote here two weeks ago, when Robert Fisk and Fleet Street's other sob-sisters were running around weepin' and a-wailin' about mass graves and war crimes. The Israeli government's latest figures for Jenin put the death toll of Palestinians at 52. The Palestinians themselves put the death toll at - wait for it - 56. read full story / add a comment
