THE 2011 Seán Sabhat Commemoration, organised annually by Sinn Féin, will be held in Limerick City on Sunday 2nd January. The parade will assemble at Bedford Row at 2:45pm and, led by the Carrick-on-Suir Republican Flute Band, proceed from there to Sabhat’s grave in the Republican Plot, Mount St Laurence Cemetery. Limerick City Councillor Maurice Quinlivan will address the commemoration and the main speaker will be Sinn Féin TD for North Kerry/West Limerick Martin Ferris. read full story / add a comment

The 12 Days of CRHistmas is a series of Monty Python-inspired videos created by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign for its Stop Cementing Misery campaign - http://www.ipsc.ie/crhdivest. The videos are designed to create public awareness in Ireland of CRH’s involvement in building the illegal apartheid wall in Palestine. CRH owns a 25% share in Israeli cement company Mashav, which is building both the wall and illegal settlements. Mashav in turn owns Nesher Cement Enterprises Ltd., which is Israel’s sole supplier of cement. read full story / add a comment

Several hundred people took part in "A Spectacle Of Defiance And Hope" in Dublin on the night of Friday 10th December to protest the way the government have cut funding to vital community services. Janice Feighery a co-ordinator at an after school computer program for young people said “Community programmes are being devastated by the cuts. Our work with young people is strangled by lack of funds." The spectacle draws to a close the week of protests against the austerity budget. read full story / add a comment

http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1207/presswatch-business.html PILOT WHO CROSSED O'LEARY RESIGNS - The Ryanair pilot who said the airline should replace Michael O'Leary, the low-cost airline's chief executive, with a junior flight attendant to save money has quit after being reassigned from southern France to the "Siberia" of a base in Lithuania, says the Financial Times. Captain Morgan Fischer was one of almost 30 Ryanair pilots working at Marseilles who had to move after the airline announced in October that it was closing the base following a disagreement with French authorities. The pilots were asked to bid for new bases. Most did so and were offered work at bases in Spain, Italy, Portugal and elsewhere, including some a few hours' drive from Marseilles, where many live with their families. read full story / add a comment

Hortefeux the minister of the interior (= to minister of justice or home secretary) has found a new enemy now that Romanians, women in veils & Africans are old hat. Yep.
