Speaking from Istanbul, Dr Fintan Lane, of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), spoke of his experiences on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla which was attacked by Israeli forces on Monday and his time in Israeli detention. He said he was assaulted in custody, while three other Irish received severe beatings and one. Dr. Lane is due to return to Ireland tomorrow afternoon where he will address a press conference in the City Centre. read full story / add a comment

...if Israel and Turkey are not at war, then it is Turkish law which is applicable to what happened on the ship. It is for Turkey, not Israel, to carry out any inquiry or investigation into events and to initiate any prosecutions. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has called a mass demonstration for 2pm this Saturday in Dublin at which the Freedom Flotilla deportees will speak. The demonstration will assemble at 2pm at the Garden of Remembrance and from there will march to the Department of Foreign Affairs on St. Stephen's Green. read full story / add a comment

The IPSC has learned, with relief, that the remaining Irish Freedom Flotilla prisoners are in the air tonight, en route from Tel Aviv airport to Istanbul, along with all the remaining detainees from the ill fated aid flotilla.Last night, around 120 people were deported via Israel's border with Jordan. read full story / add a comment

There will be a press conference with returned Irish Flotilla detainee Shane Dillon today at 2pm in Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Mr Dillon, who was deported to Ireland late last night will speak of his experiences on board the Challenger ship when it was boarded by Israeli commandos on Monday where he said he witness the commandos physically attacking non-violent passengers. The Israeli state is to release all 680 detained members of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla immediately - although the process is expected to take up to 48 hours. This number includes, according to official Israeli sources, 9 Irish people. It has also been reported by the Irish Embassy in Israel that Irishman Dr Fintan Lane was "roughed up" during interrogation by Israeli officials, but that he is in good spirits - the news came in a conversation with Dr. Lane's father Jim. The Freedom Flotilla was hijacked by Israeli commandos on Monday morning in an attack that left at least 9 passengers dead. read full story / add a comment

Some photos of today's lunchtime protest in Cork at the overnight Israeli commando attack on part of the Gaza aid flotilla. Among those who spoke was Jim Lane, himself a lifelong activist, who is the father of Dr. Fintan Lane. Over 100 people attended the protest at short notice and a group later marched to Cork City Hall, calling on the Lord Mayor to open a book of condolences and to demand the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador. read full story / add a comment
