A vigil was held on Patrick's Bridge in Cork city this afternoon to mark the beginning of the Gaza massacre last year. More than 1,400 people - including over 300 children - were killed by Israeli forces during the onslaught. Today's vigil was intended as a mark of respect for the dead but also as an act of solidarity with the living. read full story / add a comment

THE IRELAND-PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN (IPSC) HAS JUST RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT FROM JORDAN INFORMING US THAT CAOIMHE BUTTERLY AND JOHN HURSON ARE TO JOIN A HUNGER STRIKE IN AN ATTEMPT TO FORCE EGYPT TO ALLOW THE CONVOY TO REACH GAZA Sunday December 27th marks the anniversary of the attack on Gaza by Israel, which left over 1,400 people dead, and over 5,000 injured in 22 days. At 11 35 am, the time of the first attack, a group of humanitarians on the “Viva Palestina Convoy” will embark on an International Hunger Strike in the main square in Aqaba, Jordan. read full story / add a comment

Following several months of fundraising, four teams from across Ireland departed on Saturday, 5 December, to travel 4,000 miles across land to Gaza in Palestine to deliver ambulances and humanitarian aid to the besieged people of that tiny region. Concerned Irish citizens from Cork, Derry, Dublin, Galway and Tyrone are bringing two ambulances, a mini-bus, and a truck filled with over 10 tonnes of humanitarian aid. read full story / add a comment

This of course distracts from the fact that all hunts except drag hunts are out to kill and terrorise animals. After all that is why they exist- to abuse animals for fun. IRELAND-PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN Press Release, 24/12/04 Minister Willie O'Dea insists on 'safe passage' for Irish trying to enter Gaza in Xmas bid to break siege Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea wrote to the Egyptian Embassy in Dublin on Wednesday requesting safe passage for Limerick woman Zoe Lawlor who is travelling to Gaza this Christmas to join the Gaza Freedom March. Minister O'Dea wrote, "As Minister of Defence in Ireland, I would ask that the Egyptian authorities assist her passage through the Rafah crossing and treat her fairly. The Irish Government is committed to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and also to humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza." read full story / add a comment |
