One reason graffiti is such a volatile issue is because it touches on many fundamental questions of urban life. What constitutes public space? Who gets to decide how it will be used? Is advertising in public spaces a form of pollution? Jon Reiss’s 2008 documentary Bomb present a wide sampling of graffiti art from around the world, and a variety of viewpoints relating to graffiti. He includes interviews with everyone from first-generation graffiti artists to academic theorists: segments shot in South Africa, Brazil, Europe and Japan are particularly useful in broadening the discussion. read full story / add a comment

Sarkozy; his former minister of Justice (& ex girlfriend) Rachida Dati, whose recent baby had been rumoured to have been fathered by the former Spanish prime minister Aznar, Michèle Alliot-Marie, Christine Albanel and former leader of the Spanish "labour" opposition Alain Juppé got death threats today in the forms of nasty letters accompanied with 9mm bullets. & then to top it off two lesser well known french parliamentarians of the right wing UMP Frédéric Lefebvre and Christian Vanneste also got some lead high velocity alloy. Over ONE MILLION armed US troops and thousands of tons of munitions, passed through Shannon airport.
