A relaxed yet determined crowd gathered at the monthly vigil in Shannon this Sunday evening to protest against the ongoing use of the airport by the US military and CIA. Not surprisingly there was an unidentified aircraft sitting on the airport tarmac at the time. And also not surprisingly, the Gardai were determined to stop any of the concerned vigil attendees from identifying it. read full story / add a comment

Funeral of EU Traety at the bourse in Brussel
international / anti-capitalism / news report Saturday October 11, 2008 21:26 by Valentine   text 7 comments (last - friday march 27, 2009 10:55)   image 4 images
Today in Brussels representatives of the belgian people (Attac, Onzezeg, Notremotadire, CAP ao.) burried the Lisbon Treaty at the bourse in the centre of the Europeen Union.

People of Europe want their say on the EU.They want the referendums to be respected; This Treaty is not democratic and not protecting our social security. The non democratic way the EU is constructed over our heads is getting dangerous for our freedom and democracy our parents fought for!.

The policy of EU treaties, the European Commission, is to commercialise public services. Flowing from competition policy, the commission forces state providers to compete with private companies in the supply of public services. What will become the poor or week citicen in this junglefight?

These liberal EU strategies have led us to the recent global financial crisis which will not stop: 80 % of our national laws are dicted by the EU.

More actions will follow this week.

Jonathan Cook in an Electronic Intifada article addresses the phenomena of a book 19 weeks on Israel's bestseller list that challenges Israel's biggest taboo. The book: When and How Was the Jewish People Invented? written by Shlomo Sand, an"expert on European history at Tel Aviv University" controversially argues that: the Jews were never exiled from the Holy Land, that most of today's Jews have no historical connection to the land called Israel and that the only political solution to the country's conflict with the Palestinians is to abolish the Jewish state .... read full story / add a comment

Following a visit from a doctor it was observed that Aidan's toes on his injured leg had turned black giving rise to fears of possible
gangrene. The doctor relayed to the Prison Governor that Aidan should be seen by a consultant in this field as a medical imperative. The Governor has stated that Aidan's case would be prioritized but as of yet no decisive action has been taken. read full story / add a comment
