Four years ago on July 7th 2004 at 09:47 an explosion occurred on a No. 30 double-decker bus in Tavistock Square, London.

13 people died.

A shudder of terror went through all those who realised that a bus bomb could not be prevented, like perhaps a metro or subway bomb, with metal detectors or sniffer dogs that terror was compounded by the death and casualty figures in comparison to the total of 39 deaths for 3 rush hour underground trains. It was amazing anyone could survive. One did and has written a book which Amazon withdrew from distribution in March 2008.

A worrying amount of reports are coming in about the possibility of a new front in the ongoing “war on terror”. The chances of an attack on Iran, who have never attacked anyone outside of its borders for 280 years now, is being increasingly talked about. But who might lead this attack and in what way might such an act further destabilise the world, both externally in the Middle East but also here at home in Europe and the “civilized world”? Bush, Obama or maybe Israel? And who might follow? Sarkozy, Burlesconi, Brown, maybe even Poland, maybe even all of Europe? read full story / add a comment

Lionbridge - attempting to smash Trade Unions
international / worker & community struggles and protests / feature Sunday June 29, 2008 18:30 by Jack White   text 17 comments (last - monday march 30, 2009 15:34)   image 5 images
This Friday, the 4th of July marks the start of a week of actions against Lionbridge, a multinational translation and software development company in support of the right of workers to organise in trade unions.

Groups of workers from Ireland, Poland, Denmark, Spain, America and elsewhere will hold pickets outside the offices of Lionbridge to mark the start of a case taken against the company in Poland by Jakub G.

Jakub has been working for the company for almost 8 years and received several promotions before becoming active as a trade-union organizer. Shortly after a union was formed in Warsaw he was fired by Lionbridge. To get around the Polish law which prohibits the sacking of union representatives without good cause, the bosses said that Jakob had leaked confidential company information to an internet website. read full story / add a comment
