national / rights, freedoms and repression / press release Monday September 17, 2007 16:19 by Barra
While Ógra would never dream of violating Dublin City Councils rules on postering and such, or the inalienable right to private property, the cornerstone of this glorious state, we really must commend the young republicans who in support of our movement have attempted to remind the people of Dublin of the revolutionary history of their city. 16 Moore St. the final HQ of the Provisional Government of The Irish Republic in Easter week 1916 now represents the minority of the Parnell Street area which has not been revitalised by the "new" Irish. It lies in disrepair, shut up and until recently anonymous to the thousands who pass it everyday. Since named as a protected structure by DCC in 2005 which halted an attempt by its owner to demolish it, 16 Moore St. has remained untouch and unopen. This is a great shame as it holds the potential for a focal point in what is now a very vibrant part of the city. read full story / add a comment

international / environment / opinion/analysis Sunday September 16, 2007 15:43 by Fu Manchu
Each year the average Italian eats 28kg of Pasta which is derived from wheat. This week Italians were urged to go on "pasta strike" to protest rising wheat costs which has seen their daily staple increase 20% in the last year. Elsewhere in Europe shoppers and eaters have found the price of bread rising in similar fashion. For their part farmers blame changing climatic conditions which increase voracious vermin (who doth eat the wheat) and stricter measures by governments to combat climate related problems (the hot sun doth prepare the land for fires thus seeing its chaff & voles burnt increases forest fires) and of course the war on Iraq (for increasing the cost of all oil including red diesel). All pretty convincing reasoning in a passing casual interest slice of toast sort of way. read full story / add a comment

clare / environment / news report Saturday September 15, 2007 09:19 by Clare Shell to Sea
It's been clear for the last 2 years that the argument against the Shell Corrib Gas Project is won. And the amount of cars beeping their horns in Ennis this evening is testament to the support for Shell to Sea, genuinely. The Government continue in their refusal to debate the arguments and negotiate a settlement, and they persist in using force against the protests at Bellanaboy, a protest that has gained national and international support and recognition as ... LEGITIMATE & JUST. Greens - You have buried your heads in the Fianna Fáil mire. Yoy are complicit now. You are proving yourselves to be unreliable and unworthy of trust. The Green Party pumps for Shell. read full story / add a comment
