As a result of their refusal to remove Easter Lilies on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday; fifteen Irish Republican Political Prisoners at Maghaberry Gaol met with aggression and sectarian abuse from prison staff this week. Adjudication for three of the POWs in the incident commenced on Wednesday last, with all three POWs refusing to co-operate with the adjudication process and being immediately placed on punishment blocks. Eight other POWs face adjudication in the coming week. read full story / add a comment

The other day I received through my door a booklet on Fine Gael's Lucinda Creighton. The name rang a bell for one main reason. A lady of 29 years facing eviction last October and three emails I sent to Lucinda Creighton. Eventually with my partner Michelle and the assistance of Ruari Quinn we got an extension for this woman of several months. I ask where is this woman's humanity towards the vulnerable people, she is supposed to represent in Dublin 4. read full story / add a comment

West Tyrone Ógra Shinn Féin have said they are 'not deterred' by an appearance on the combat 18 linked website Redwatch. The Republican youth organisation was photographed at a march outside the BBC offices in Belfast , which was organised in protest at against the media's portrayal of events in the Middle East last summer. The march was organised against the media portrayal of the carnage being wrought against the people of Lebanon and Palestine , against the Israeli military's campaign of destruction in Beirut and southern Lebanon in general. read full story / add a comment

Ógra Shinn Féin activist Ian Breslin has just returned home from a tour of the Basque Country (5 - 10 April). Ian was there to show our support for Segi, after they were deemed a ‘terrorist organisation’ by the Spanish courts. In Leipzig over the Easter weekend, Irish activists participated in an international discussion of tactics for the anti-war movement, in the formulation of a declaration demanding an end to the ongoing militarisation of Leipzig-Halle airport, and in a protest march from the nearby town of Schkeuditz to the airport. This walk will begin from Mansion House in Dublin, On May 13th we will gather at 8.30 in the morning and begin walking to Swords.
