Poland ought be at the top of the agenda of any politically clued in European BGLT activist or anyone (such as myself) who merely supports their rights. Last week the deputy minister of education in the quite frankly weirdest administration in the EU anounced a new bill which will prohibit any person of declared homosexuality or any person who supports "homosexuality" from teaching in either schools or universities. the Polish government has officially suggested & proposed legislation for employment descrimination on grounds of sexual orientation & moreover - proposed legislation which strips citizens of their right to free-expression read full story / add a comment

It seems now that arch stickie Sean Garland will now escape extradition after all. You might recall that he had to flee the 6 counties not so long ago to avoid the PSNI\RUC extraditing him to America to face allegations of forging US bank notes in collusion with N.Korea. This is a result of the latest tete a tete between N.Korea and the US. In attempts to encourage the process it seems the yanks have agreed to overlook the whole forgery affair and thus it seems to be that Garland wont be donning an orange boiler suit with matching ear muffs anytime soon, and mores the pity in many peoples opinion (see a recent thread here on Indymedia on Garlands threatened extradition, if anyone has the link can they post it as I cant find it). read full story / add a comment

How can the five main political parties in Northern Ireland succeed in bringing peace and prosperity here when they have actively succeeded in destroying the home life, prosperity and peace of a hard-working family as they worked unceasingly over these past 30 years - and still work - to cover up a massive housing fraud? Gerry Rice. read full story / add a comment

The current edition of the Mayo Advertiser carries an article on proceedings at Mayo Council's monthly meeting. This month, Sinn Féin Cllr Gerry Murray proposed a motion calling on the Council to demand that the government renegotiate the current deal, whereby all the profits of the sale of the natural gas in the Corrib field will leave the country and go to the shareholders in Shell, Statoil and Marathon Oil. Sinn Féin want to know why the money can't fund hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure projects in this country. Cllr Murray pressed the FG Cllr present to say whether whether if, should that party be in govt after the general election, Enda Kenny would continue with the present policy of giving away the country's resources, but no answer was forthcoming. The first part of the article is below and their is a link to the full piece: http://www.mayoadvertiser.com/index.php?aid=1316 read full story / add a comment
