The Bitchin Kitchen was set up in 2005 after the Eyfa winter meeting in Co. Clare . Since then the Kitchen has cooked at protests camps , G8 summit protests , concerts and various other gatherings around Ireland and the world . Cooking either for cheap or for free . The kitchen has spent alot of this year cooking at the Rossport solidarity camp and is getting ready to cook at the G8 summit this July which will be held in roskstock in Germany . This gig has been organised in order to raise awareness of the forthcoming summit and to raise funds for the Bitchin Kitchen who will be traveling there plus a great way to spend your thursday night with some great bands ... read full story / add a comment

At 1am this morning I was called by the Melbourne Sun Herald to comment on mainstream Australian media reporting a payout from the Victorian government to some of us assaulted at the World Economic Forum 2000 in Melbourne. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,,21322057-661,....html http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,2132....html Reports refer to me as a "serial protestor" -even tho' I don't lobby protest, sign petitions,vote- and place me in the wrong place at the wrong time for when the police bashed me. An exhibition of work by the distinguished Irish artist Robert Ballagh opens to the public at the Heywood Community School, Ballinakill, Co Laois, on Monday 5 March 2007. Comprising seven works the exhibition focuses on works produced by Ballagh during the 1970s. Today members of Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) held a hugely eye catching event outside of Brown Thomas on Grafton Street in Dublin to held push the campaign. With two activists posing ‘dead’ inside coffins whilst clutching signs reading “Brown Thomas – Fur Is Dead” other members of ARAN also held posters reading “Your Fur Had A Face” and others held our synonymous animal rights banner “Speak Out For Animal Rights” this banner continues to appear at various ARAN events around the country. read full story / add a comment

Completion of editing was disrupted as film maker Danny Burns was sentenced to 6 months for the St. Patrick's Four action www.stpatricksfour.org Since the walk. participants were detained and questioned on return to the U.S. with future prosecution remaining a possibility. In a stirring and far ranging speech to the Sinn Féin Ard fheis at the RDS on Saturday evening, Gerry Adams called for a restoration of the Stormont Assembly, saying that the lesson of recent history in the North is clear: The British direct rule ministers need to be sent home. In the 26 counties he called for changes in the health, housing, education, drugs policies and also called for rural regeneration. Across the island, he said, there is still a growing inequality between the richest and the poorest, in health, education and in job and career opportunity. The costly amendment to Our constitution is a direct response to the failed emergency legislation :- Criminal Law (sexual Offences) Bill 2006. The wording of the amendment- section 5 (ironically) reverses section 5 of the 2006 legislation which, as we know, criminalises kids for sexual activity, caused a constitutional crisis and does not protect aginst solicitation. read full story / add a comment
