In light of President Bush’s determination to send an additional 21,000 plus troops to Iraq, regardless of the position of Congress and the American people, the citizens of the United States must be made aware of the ongoing experimentation and outright disregard for our American troops. This evening Shell to Sea activists picketed and protested outside Shell's partner-in-crime, Statoil's (franchised) Service Station in Newcastle Road. As evidenced by the frequent car honking and positive feed back from pedestrians there's still oodles of goodwill and empathy out there for the good people of Rossport and their titanic struggle against corporate thug Shell and their bought shites in government and mainstream media?. read full story / add a comment

I am so surprised that Ireland had no word or news of this action. & certainly it is late to encourage people to do their bit. But today from 18h55 to 19h00 GMT a "pan-European" attempt was made to bring public attention to Climate Change. The group responsible "amis de la Terre" based in France began internet networking and horizontal communication with their peers in France and certain other states of the EU.

The Spanish state whose minister for Energy supported the call have now released details of how much energy was saved during the 5 minute "switch off" in the Spanish state. The reduction in consumption was an astounding 2.5%!

In commemoration of 100 years of Shell Oil's greed, theft and destruction of communities worldwide, the Cork branch of Shell to Sea unveiled its latest agitprop creation in the heart of Cork city, a 30ft banner saying 'Shell 100 years..Pollution.Corruption and Murder' complete with enemy logo. Most of us are happy if people think we are good at what we do. There's a certain sense of pride attached to the notion of doing a job well, and getting better and achieving our aims. Some of us get satisfaction through family and interests, maybe even altruism or hedonism, but most of like to think that if our co-workers or employers were asked if we any good at our jobs thay would say yes.

So why don't Shell have a big banner outside their office announcing that they are making record profits? Why don't they issue a press release saying that they are doing better than ever, and things are improving for their shareholders like never before?

Why aren't they celebrating?
