Councillor Daithí Doolan of Sinn Féin submitted a question to the City manager at the November Dublin City Council Meeting to clarify why DCC vehicles are being supplied with petrol from Shell. Many people in Dublin, including a lot of DCC staff, have expressed dismay that the Council has an exclusive deal whcih means that they must refuel at Shell garages. A large crowd from Shell to Sea joined the Sinn Féin councillors before the meeting to show support for Daithí's suggestion that the deal be scrapped. read full story / add a comment

An important event is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday (8th to 9th November) in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin. Ireland’s Atlantic “Petroleum Province” is being discussed. Confused? This “Province” consists of all the Irish Atlantic oil and gas fields that have been explored so far. At present, the Irish Government is handing out licences to Shell, Exxon-Mobil, Statoil, and others as fast as they can. The Irish Government and the global oil and gas industry are working in close partnership, and have been for many years. Shell and Statoil, the energy multinationals involved in the Corrib project, will be represented, as will the Minister for Marine and Natural Resources, who is to give the opening address. read full story / add a comment

Flyer to distribute to the unaware at marches and other Oaxaca solidarity actions. I was not able to upload typeset flyer, but below are the photos & text used if you want to use any. On the 8 x 10 flyer, the six photos [Ireland imc has only 4] from around the world are smaller than they appear here, about 1.5 x 1.5. The flyer includes a 3.5 x 5 photo of the girl confronting the PFP (Policia Federal Preventiva, Mexican Federal Riot Police), and a separate large poster was made just with her photo and the legend: the world is watching OAXACA November 2, 2006 read full story / add a comment
cork / anti-war / imperialism / event notice Saturday November 04, 2006 22:00 by Anti-War Ireland (Cork)
A US missile-launching destroyer docked at the Deepwater Quay in Cobh, Co. Cork, yesterday. This is one in a series of visits that these ships of death have paid to Cobh in recent times. As far as Anti-War Ireland is concerned, these warships are as unwelcome as the US military that pass through Shannon airport. It is a warship from a belligerent imperial power and is not welcome in Cork harbour. The warship currently docked will remain in Cobh until Thursday. AWI is calling a picket against the presence of this weapon of war for 7pm on Tuesday evening. Please ensure that you attend and make your voice heard against the facilitation of the Bush war machine in Irish ports. read full story / add a comment
