dublin / miscellaneous / press release Monday May 29, 2006 23:29 by Cormac Ryan - éirígí PRO   text 11 comments (last - sunday july 02, 2006 23:36)   image 5 images
éirígí, the newly formed Socialist Republican campaigns group, launched it’s ‘Reclaim the Republic/Athshealbhaígí an Phoblacht’ campaign over the course of last weekend. The campaign aims to bring the message of 1916 to the people and trigger a debate about the nature of modern day Ireland and how it compares to the Ireland envisioned in the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.

In attempting to make this a reality, éirígí has begun to distribute thousands of full colour poster-size copies of the Proclamation to the citizens of Dublin on a not for profit basis. Over the course of the weekend éirígí activists distributed hundreds of copies of the Proclamation in various location across the city, including, Tallaght, Crumlin, Walkinstown, Drumcondra, Ballybough and the City Centre. éirígí activists will continue to distribute these posters over the coming weeks and months. Any donations received will be used to cover the cost of printing additional posters for further distribution. In this way éirígí hopes to ensure that the Proclamation will hang with pride in homes, workplaces and schools across the city.

Irish authorities actively covered up loyalist death squad actions Brother of Martin Doherty, who was killed in a 1994 gun and bomb attack on the Widow Scallan’s pub in Dublin, calls for full disclosure Jarlath Kearney 25/05/2006 Irish government authorities have actively covered up the actions of loyalist death squads that operated in the 26 Counties during the 1990s, a Daily Ireland probe today reveals.

The objective of the persistent, top-level cover-ups has been to protect well-placed RUC/PSNI and British intelligence agents operating in both the Ulster Defence Association and Ulster Volunteer Force.

The conduct of the Irish authorities raises serious legal, constitutional and human-rights questions for Irish citizens affected by the attacks.

wicklow / anti-capitalism / other press Friday May 26, 2006 12:11 by Mick Hall   image 1 image
Concerns have been raised over the transparency of one of Ireland’s biggest proposed developments.

The €2 billion (£1.4 billion) plan by the Pizarro Development Consortium to build a high-density development on the 62-acre site on Bray town golf course in Co Wicklow was passed by Bray Town Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council earlier this month.

Local residents have strongly objected to the plan, concerned it will cause widespread flooding in the Little Bray part of town, affecting more than 700 homes. The residents are holding a public meeting next Monday to discuss a campaign to have the high-density build of shops, offices and residential homes moved away from the River Dargle flood plain and relocated to higher ground on the site.

Da Vinci's annunciation, when Gabriel visited the teenage Mary & told her it wasn't a crime, she'd be a virgin.

Pope Benedict XVI the supreme moral authority for most citizens of the Irish Republic has begun his 4 day visit to Poland, during which he will speak against feminism, gay marriage, abortion, liberalism, contraception, & sex education. For those of you who don't know who pope Benedict XVI is, or why he is newsworthy.... A long time ago the archangel Gabriel appeared to a teenage girl in Palestine commonly called Mary, she was most probably aged between 14 and 16 based on customs of the time. The archangel told her that she was pregnant but wasn't to get too uptight about it.... It wasn't going to be a crime.... Because she'd have a virgin birth without DNA samples and her baby would be called Emanuel / Jesus / Brian & he'd be really famous and end up starring in the first Good Friday Agreement, and Michael Mc Dowell the sinful capitalist liberal hadn't been accounted for in the divine plan.

Of course all the frothy stuff got removed over the centuries, and now we know better. Pope Benedict, the German Shepherd, Papa Ratzi, has been well prepared for by his hosts the former communist & bolshevik, Poland. The Polish government has banned adverts for items which might upset him or the memory of Mary the virgin teenager.
