July 8 Marks the day Irish Republican Hungerstriker Joe McDonnell Died on Hungerstrike 25 years ago.

We are asking the youth of the world to join with Ógra Shinn Féin in commemorating this brave Irish revolutionary who died the most awful of deaths, to advance the struggle for freedom and socialism.

At 5.11 a.m., on July 8th 1981, Joe McDonnell, who - believeably, for those who know his wife Goretti, his children Bernadette and Joseph and his family - "had too much to live for" died after sixty one days of agonising hunger strike, rather than be criminalised.

Na Fianna Eireann activist - Fiann John Dempsey was shot while on active service in Turf Lodge Belfast - on the day of Joe McDonnell's death - we remember him with pride!

May 21 Marks the day Irish Republican Hungerstrikers Ray McCreesh and Patsy O'Hara Died on Hungerstrike 25 years ago.

We are asking the youth of the world to join with Ógra Shinn Féin in commemorating these brave Irish revolutionaries who died the most awful of deaths, to advance the struggle for freedom and socialism.

The real criminals are the British imperialists who have thrived on the blood and sweat of generations of Irish men."

The Corrib gas project is synonymous with Shell, leading player in a consortium also featuring Statoil and Marathon Oil. While Shell as the dominant partner has played the biggest role so far in Corrib, there are many more companies involved in this discredited project. Most of the work on the project from the construction and design of the gas refinery to peat haulage and site security is subcontracted out to individual companies. read full story / add a comment

On April 16th the Irish state is conducting a military style parade of its forces through Dublin city centre in commemoration of the 1916 insurrection and those who lost their lives in it.
Approximately 2,500 personnel representing all branches of the Defence Forces together
with representatives of ex-service personnel and veterans of UN service will be included
as will a large number of the Garda Síochána,
This celebration of resistance to British Imperialism is being funded by the Irish taxpayers, t

This is no game, no mock theatre of young malcontents venting traditional fury. This is the real thing.

Tomorrow France mobilises to join the vanaguard, not only against the latest attempt to impose anglo-saxon capitalist labour market adjustments on their rights, but also to break the hegemony of the now failed Chirac regime.

57% of the French polled by Le Monde want the law scrapped.
71% of the French polled by Le Monde believe Chirac has further radicalised discontent by his televised appearances in support of his dauphin Dominque de Villepin. We have all come very far in our local and trans-national struggles, and now it is time to reflect on one thing we have learnt :-
