A tongue in cheek piece that explores many paradoxical ideas associated with the theory of evolution. - That evolves into a discourse into a series of primal theological questions that still remain unanswered. Might be interesting reading for anyone into evolutionary debate and for anyone with pre-conceived notions about their right to define creation superceding the rights of others. This is my first submission from what will be my second Indybook. It is the fourth chapter - but stands on its own merits. * Update on campaign to save the Hill of Tara from the M3 motorway – 12 March 2006 A discrete national monument has been discovered in the pathway of the M3 motorway, during investigative archaeological excavations. It is entitled Baronstown 1, by the NRA, and lies just on the other side of the N3, between the hills of Tara and Skryne. It can be seen at: http://www.m3motorway.ie/Archaeology/Section2/Baronstown1/ A protest involving local and national activist groups is planned for 12.00PM, March 15th, at 'Baronstown 1', a newly discovered national monument in the pathway of the M3 motorway. Evidence regarding this site was not allowed to be presented in the High Court case, because Justice Smyth denied an application for cross-examination of expert witnesses. read full story / add a comment

On Thursday 9th March 2006 four Peace Activists were acquitted at Shannon District Court as the charges brought by An Garda Siochána were withdrawn at the behest of the D.P.P. These charges regarded an incident at Shannon Airport on the 17th September 2005 where a group of members from Na Cosantóirí Síochána (the Peace Network) hung a banner on the balcony at the airport to protest the use of Shannon Airport by the CIA in the illegal programme of “Extraordinary Rendition” read full story / add a comment

Harry Browne (journalist and anti-war activist) and Senator David Norris (Joycean scholar, anti war and gay rights campaigner) launched the "The Profits of Extermination. How U.S. Corporate Power is destroying Colombia" in Trinity College on Thursday night. The Author is Francisco Ramirez Cuellar, President of Sintraminercol (The Miners Union of Colombia). Introduction and translation by Aviva Chomsky. Several attempts have been made to assasinate the author since the book was published. The book outlines how corporate greed has resulted in human rights abuses in Colombia. The event was Organised by Colombia Solidarity Network and Trinity One World Society in collaboration with Latin America Solidarity Centre. Yesterday Defra Minister Ben Bradshaw announced to the House of Commons that a ban on the use of certain wild animals was being planned for the UK under the Animal Welfare Bill. Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mark Pritchard has asked: What changes are proposed to animal welfare legislation in Northern Ireland; and if the Minister will make a statement. On Tuesday a dramatic billboard, organised by Animal Defenders International (ADI) calling for a ban on the use of wild animals toured Belfast before moving on today to Dublin. This is part of a global campaign by ADI to end the use of animals in travelling circuses. In Ireland ADI are working with the Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) to promote the campaign. read full story / add a comment

A protest of Somali Asylum Seekers took place today outside the Dáil. It was supported by Residents Against Racism. The asylum seekers are faced with deportation from the state despite the fact that Somalia is an unsafe corrupt country.
