The angry worldwide Muslim protests against the publication of cartoons depicting Muhammad in various European newspapers have shown again the enormous anger provoked amongst Muslims by Bush’s “war on terror” and the invasion of Iraq. Thanks to our good manners, lack of religious hatred, and famed inter-cultural tolerance, the Irish people have in the last week become one of the few predominantly blue eyed pasty skinned nations of northern europe with a bit of viking past not to be threatened with armageddon. Our cartoonists and children book authors are safe. Our museum of Islamic literature with its oft overlooked iconoclastic illustrations un-molested, Our embassies proud and inviolate. & our butter sales have gone up. Time my friends to remind ourselves of our commercial relations with the state of Iran. ____________________________________________________ read full story / add a comment

"some worry we'll lose our feminity if we become equality...since femininity is being a woman and feeling good about it, clearly the better you feel about yourself as a person, the better you feel about being a woman. And it seems to me the better you are able to love a man" RIP = rest in peace ________________________________________________ read full story / add a comment

The recent religious furore over certain (cartoon) publications in the secular press unambiguously identifies ‘religion’ as little more than cheap politics; or put in simpler more accurate terms; religion is the politics of the mentally deficient. Consider the possibility of an infinite creator/God and the arrogance of those who actually think or imagine they or any other finite being could possibly pollute, insult or deface that God. A characteristic of Godhead is IMMUTABILITY! Rationalists would refer to the basic logic of the inability of the finite to apprehend the infinite (God); the two states are mutually exclusive. But it is obvious that ‘God’ is as far removed from the present issue as day is from night. read full story / add a comment
