Michael McDowell has been invited to open this years Dublin Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Given his ongoing attack against minorities there are many in the lgbt community calling on the fesitval organisers to withdraw their invitation. Mayfield Community Arts Centre is hosting a 3 week exchange programme between young artists from Nicaragua, Colombia and Cork. For four hours today in sweltering Williamsgate Street, Sinn Fein young turks augmented with Shell to Sea activists manned an information/petition table and were genuinely awed at the amount of outrage and palpaple anger that was directed at Shell and Fianna Fail by the pedestrians who at times queued to sign our petition. read full story / add a comment

Yesterday morning (the 12th of july 2005) saw five explosions in the spanish state, four were against irish financial interests and were pre-warned and claimed by ETA and one was against the Italian state and is being attributed to extremist groups under the "italian anti-system anarchist" umbrella. The electricty plant which saw four bombs but no injuries is the first colaboration between the Spainsh state and a foreign electricity company, the Irish ESB. read full story / add a comment
