the main buildings of Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek have been taken by opponents to the regime there. Kyrgystanis very old fashioned, and thus occupying the presidential palace, the TV station the radio station and a handful of other ministries is really enough to say quite effectively "you're in charge now". read full story / add a comment

I'm a chess fan, its been two years since I left a comment on the Almuajaha "iraqi witness" Baghdad independent media site which I'm quite proud of - "Do not play chess unless you see checkmate". So I thought to share with you news of two Chess Grand Masters who are in the news at this time for well doing and saying stuff on the dirty game of knaves which is politics. read full story / add a comment

I read that the Irish football team is going to Israel play a match on the 26th of March. Is the FAI in breach of it's own codes by allowing its's national team to play in a Terrorist State. Is it covert acceptance of the oppression and murder of Palestinians and theft of Palestinian land on a daily baisis and the shooting of school-girls in the face, and the bulldozing of houses and farms and an occasional peace activist. read full story / add a comment

This week the minster of Justice, Michael mc Dowell addressed the Garda Siochana (his police force) on several issues. Improvements to their housing. What he terms "SF/IRA" criminality with very special references made to two events outside the jurisdiction of his department in Northern Ireland of the UK. And reminded everyone that he supports the GFA (to wash hands of ethnicity issues and crucify the Christ). Meanwhile the local "experts" on the Good Friday thing had earlier the same Dail holiday weekend spoken out against his policies. He made no reference to either speed lasers or the deportation of a young black chap in his school uniform to Nigeria last week. read full story / add a comment

The weather is fluky here in Cooley today with rain and depression coming down. The following text may do something to lighten the spirits of indymedia readers. Some people think that The Archbsihop is just another venal cleric. Others may say that he is only a cod. However no-one can deny that he has in abundance the unusual gift of seeing what is (blindingly?) obvious. The following is a post factum reconstruction by Archbishop Michael Desmond ("Dessie") Hynes of a talk he gave to the fifth annual winter workshop organised by Cooley Environmental and Health Group. The workshop entitled "Organisation and Health" took place on the afternoon of 29 January 2005 in The Strand, Omeath, Co Louth. read full story / add a comment
