"There Is No Common Land in Ireland"
A number of interesting topics were dealt with during the conduct of business at last night's meeting of Greenore/Cooley Fisherman's Association which took place in The Farm, Greenore.
At a special meeting of Greenore/Cooley Fisherman’s Association on Tuesday 8 February 2005 starting at 7.30 p.m sharp in The Farm, Greenore, the secretary - Sean Crudden - read an e-mail he had sent to The Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform on 14 January 2005 asking whether the district court had any jurisdiction on the waters of Carlingford Lough. When he pointed out that there had been no reply he was instructed by the meeting to forward the e-mail to Liz O’Donnell TD and to Leonard Hatrick, Chairperson of Ardee Town Council, to see if they separately or together could help to extract an answer from The Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.

The secretary was also instructed by the meeting to write to Louth County Council asking it to review safety read full story / add a comment

In Tuesday's 'An Irishman's Diary' in the Irish Times, Kevin Myers wrote of single parents milking the welfare system and repeatedly used the term 'bastards' for their children.

The use of an outdated perjoritive term for children who in times past were termed to have been 'born out of wedlock,' shows what an insensitive bastard the Irish Times has in its midst. read full story / add a comment

Zimbabwean politicians are joining in the years' religious style weirdness, which has naturally followed on from the end of 2004 "renewed interest in the spirit" front covers of the global corporate media magazines with renewd interest in what the Roman Pontiff called "the message of baby Jesus in the stable".

I have been updating help guide documentation for the website and how to help run Indymedia Ireland. Hopefully some of these help pages will be added as pages on the main site. It has come from my head from editing the site and from responses to questions on the mailing lists by other editors.

We need users to work on these if you have any suggestions email imc-ireland@lists.indymedia.org or the contact page above. read full story / add a comment

There is an area forum in every corner of Ireland. Readers of indymedia in Louth and further afield might like to contribute their opinions and comments on a draft constitution for the North Louth Area Forum which was drawn up last night by two members of Greenore/Cooley Fisherman's Association. A process like this might inspire creativity in other parts of Ireland and abroad as well as here in County Louth. read full story / add a comment

( The rules governing the election of the next Pope are determined by the Apostolic Constitution Universi Dominici Gregis (UDG), written by John Paul II and promulgated on February 22 of 1996. )

( After the death of Pope John Paul II, the next Pope will be chosen by the Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church. "Confirming therefore the norm of the current Code of Canon Law (cf. Canon 349), which reflects the millennial practice of the Church, I once more affirm that the College of electors of the Supreme Pontiff is composed solely of the Cardinals of Holy Roman Church".) read full story / add a comment
