dublin / rights, freedoms and repression / news report Tuesday March 30, 2004 16:20 by curio
Not sure of the exact details but this morning at about 11am there were four cops at the Leeson st. squat. Seemingly they attempted to break down the front door, something completely out of the ordinary seeing as (a) it's a civil matter and the cops had already stated that they werent going to get involved and (b) its a listed building they they would have had to get permission to damage. Didnt see any people from the council but the cops were talking to two old conservative looking types. They all left pretty soon when people started showing up. Not sure of all the details as I had to leave very quickly. Whatever the case it certainly doesnt bode well for the squatters legal rights being upheld. read full story / add a comment
