Big demo in Dublin today. Photos and video and reports on RTE website radio and TV, ireland.com, even the Indo. And what do we get on Indymedia? A press release from the Continuity IRA support group posted after the march saying that they are going to attend it. And reports from Shannon. No photos at all. Time to close down Indymedia. It is irrelevant and slow. If I can get better coverage of a demo on RTE and the corporate newspapers what is this place for? read full story / add a comment
national / anti-war / imperialism / press release Saturday March 20, 2004 23:14 by Ailín
"The anti-war demonstration which takes place in Dublin today (March 20), marking the first anniversary of the illegal Anglo\US invasion of Iraq, provides the Irish people with a perfect opportunity to express their complete rejection of the 26 County Administration's support for the continued illegal Anglo\US occupation of Iraq, and in particular Brian Cowen's remarks on Thursday (March 18) pledging the continued use of Shannon by US warplanes. Such remarks only serve to highlight the arrogance of an administration which has chosen to ignore the vast majority of the Irish people, who have clearly expressed their opposition to the Anglo\US invasion and occupation of Iraq, made clear by the presence of 200.000 people on the streets of Dublin in February of last year." read full story / add a comment |
