December 6th saw the largest anti-war demonstration at Shannon airport since April of last year. Some 400 people took part in what the Irish Anti War Movement (IAWM) had advertised as a blockade of the airport. The blockade was supported by the Grassroots Network Against War. Recently released figures reveal 115,000 US troops passed through Shannon on the way to Iraq last year, confirming its central role in the US military supply chain read full story / add a comment

As U S war machines continued to refuel their genocidal machines of chaos and destruction on our soil demonstrators made their way from the town center to a barricaded junction where they were met with more of the same oppression as before. A small group of demonstrators stayed at the roundabout outside of the town. While the rest made their via an alternative root. However on the way down they were met by the proverbial schoolyard bullies the demo was small but representative. Spare a thought for families homeless at christmas. Half of all registered homeless people are women and children. 70% of all homeless people are women. There are over 300,000 people homeless. security is being beefed up in shannon,a army convoy(including a military ambulance) has just arrived from the barracks in limerick .the guarda spotter plane has been flying over shannon since early this morning with guarda cars station at various pionts around the airfield. read full story / add a comment

every tuesday 10 - 1.00 it is free to visit the studio of francis bacon at 11.00 there is a guided tour bacon was born in ireland and worked in england, when he died, the studio he worked in was deconstructed, piece by piece, and all stuff and its position catologued. it was all moved to the hugh lane and rebuilt, piece by piece a very interesting insight into the line between order and chaos there is a few of us going down from bolton st at 11.00 read full story / add a comment
