About 100 people attended a meeting sponsored by Workers and Unemployed Action Group (South Tipperary) in Clonmel last night to discuss the alternative budget measures contained in “4Steps 2 Recovery” The meeting was chaired by Cllr Seamus Healy. Cllr. Seamus Healy, Chairperson Save Our Acute Hospital Services Committee, has called on Minister Martin Mansergh T.D. to publicly support South Tipperary General Hospital and to publicly call on the Minister for Health and the Health Service Executive to stop the so-called reconfiguration process. Minister Mansergah’s Fianna Fáil colleague, Wexford Minister Sean Connick T.D. has already publicly called, on Monday’s Morning Ireland programme, for the reconfiguration of Wexford General Hospital to be parked. read full story / add a comment

An allegation that the offices of the Sporting Press in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, which describes itself as the “official organ of the Irish Coursing Club (ICC), has been raided within the past few days by the Garda Fraud Squad has been leaked by Coursing supporters. This allegation is contained on an Internet chat forum called the “Greyhound Knowledge Forum”. In the course of an exchange of views and comments by forum members, mainly in relation to Minister John Gormley’s upcoming decision on whether to grant a hare-netting license to the ICC, a person calling himself “Vinny Grennan” refers specifically to the presence of the Fraud Squad in the Sporting Press offices in Clonmel. read full story / add a comment

After stepping "into the ring with the big boys" witht the launch of his debut CD, Chisty is Dead, singer songwriter Kris Finnerty is delighted to return to Lonergans of Clonmel where he previously played during the Clonmel Junction Festival. Kris will play in Lonergans on Sunday 16th December 2007 at 8.30pm. Admission is €10 and 77c from each ticket sold will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland in honour of Kris' two cousins who have this disease.
