A new development in hunting circles has the obviously hard- up North Galway hunt touting for business on the website DONEDEAL. Punters are invited to hunt, terrify and dismember foxes in Galway for the day and to celebrate St. Valentines day at a hunt ball with the hunters on Saturday night for 250euro a person. They will have about 75 people out hunting that day. All monies will go to the North Galway hunt. Please boycott the Westwood Hotel in Galway. Today, in Galway, the Union of Students in Ireland intensified its ongoing campaign against threatened registration fee hikes and cuts to the student grant in the forthcoming budget with a march of some 2,000 students from NUIG - another is planned for Cork in early December - to Galway city centre via University Road, Eglington Street and Shop Street to the Spanish Arch plaza, where the demonstrators were addressed by several key speakers. including USI President, Gary Redmond, NUIG SU President Peter Mannion and GMIT SU President, Colin Canny. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Dick Donoghue, Margaretta D'Arcy and playwright and novelist, John Arden, will read from their work at Galway Arts Centre, Nuns Island, on Tuesday, November 23rd, starting at 8pm. Admission is €5. The evening is organised by the Western Writers' Centre - Ionad Scríbhneoirí Chaitlín Maude.
