In the phony war on terror, thousands of people have been taken prisoner and tortured with no evidence, charges or trial.
The arrests make good PR for Bush, the admissions of error are 'less newsworthy'.
Even before we set up the peace camp at shannon we suspected that the US Government would use shannon airport to transport its captives to Guantanamo Bay.
After a lot of digging, and some luck, we now have a lot more than suspicion, and YOU have to help us to hold the Irish govt to account for this. a watered down version of this appeared on p6 of the Sunday Business Post today... I was expecting a bit more bite.. so here's a bit more of what's being hidden. read full story / add a comment

Mary Kelly, an Irish nurse and mother of four, peacefully disarmed a USAF warplane in shannon on Jan 29th 2003 by taking a hatchet to the nose-cone installation. Having failed to convince a jury to convict her on June 30th 2003 Mary now faces prosecution on June 15th by the Irish State for acting according to the dictates of the Nuremburg Convention. Supporters have been active in many cities around Ireland. The following is a brief roundup of the tremenduous support this brave and principled activist is receiving. read full story / add a comment

Peace activist Mary Kelly, currently awaiting a retrial for her hatchet job on a US warplane at shannon Airport last year, received a warm welcome when she spoke at the World Social Forum (WSF) in Mumbai (Bombay) last weekend, but was surprised by the refusal of Mary Robinson to support the "upholding of international law".

Kelly, who was invited to participate as a voice of resistance at the World Court of Women on US War Crimes at the WSF, returns to Dublin on Sunday 25th Jan 2004. read full story / add a comment
