Together with Deirdre Clancy, Nuin Dunlop, Karen Fallon and Damien Moran, Ciaron is one of the group known as the Pit Stop Ploughshares. In early February 2003, these five took part in the non-violent disarmament of a US Navy War Plane at shannon airport. They have been charged with US$2.5 million damage to the plane, which was forced to return to Texas rather than continue its journey to Iraq. Their trial begins on Monday Oct 24th 2005 at the Four Courts, Dublin, Ireland. This article gives a brief insight into the motivations of these dedicated peace activists. read full story / add a comment

While planespotting OUTSIDE shannon Warport in broad daylight last Sunday, some planespotters found themselves on the receiving end of a fit of madness from one of the APOs who decided somehow that he had jurisdiction outside his patch. Peace activist Ed Horgan (ex Irish Army Commandant) has been arrested at shannon Airport for taking a picture of a US Hercules aircraft. This picture was taken in a public area. It looks as though the Irish State will stoop to nothing in its desparation to hide the evidence of illegal US troop movements. A private jet similar to the ones chartered by the CIA for illegal transport of prisoners for the purposes of torture was also spotted by him. He was unable to confirm this because he was arrested. read full story / add a comment

Six Trident Ploughshares activists have occupied the Irish Embassy in London. They are demonstrating their solidarity with the widely popular cause of the Pitstop Ploughshares activists who are going on trial next week in an Irish court. The Ploughshares activists believe that the disruption of US munition and troop transport through shannon Airport helped to prevent the crime of genocide being carried out against the Iraqi people. read full story / add a comment
