Jan 27th Deadline for Submissions on Govt Bill to Prevent Citizens Objections to Bad Planning & Developments

The government is bringing in legislation that will more or less remove your right to object to various types of planning applications and will give free reign to developers and private companies to do as they please. The new rules would require objections only from established interest groups that are in existence at least 3 years and have more than 100 members for that time. Fees will also be far higher. This means if someone wants to put a motorway outside your door and dig a quarry in the field beside you, or build a windfarm outside your front window, a sewage works over the wall, then you have to have known about it somehow three years in advance, have formed an interest group and have 100 members, not 99 or 50 or 20 but 100 !

Friends of the Irish Environment are calling on citizens and citizens group to make their voices heard during the submission period to make our opposition clear to the State. The rights of citizens to access our courts goes back to the Magna Carta.

Submission can be made until January 27, 2020.
Submission site: https://www.housing.gov.ie/housing/public-consultation-general-scheme-housing-and-planning-and-development-bill-2019

Following yesterday's decision by the UK Court of Appeal that the proposed badger cull is legal it is imperative that we all work to try and stop this wildlife tragedy from happening; within a few weeks hundreds of badgers could be shot each night when they come out of their setts looking for food. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19563661

Some quick things you can do on the computer right now to help save the badgers:
