An Irish Times opinion poll (published on Monday May 24) on the citizenship referendum is good news for the Government – it shows a majority of more than two to one (54% versus 24%, 22% undecided) – in favour of the amendment drafted by Minister for Justice Michael mcdowell. The poll was conducted as the “Chen Case” hit the headlines. Were the people who participated in last week’s opinion poll influenced by the mainstream media coverage? That seems likely. read full story / add a comment

Supporter of "a little shooting" oversaw the slaughter of up to a milion in the name of protecting western control of the principal world source of natural rubber and tin and a producer of petroleum and other strategically important commodities. dublin / summit mobilisations / opinion/analysis Tuesday May 11, 2004 16:07 by Dermot
When there are empowering marches and actions against the state, history can be re-written quickly, especially by the Trotskyists to reflect that nothing would've been possible without their 'Leadership'. Fortunately, due to the March on Farmleigh being organised by the Dublin Grassroots and getting little or no support from the SWP, it is going to prove a little more difficult for them to claim any part in it. In fact less than 48 hours later the Party had issued a leflet condemning us, telling us to Get Organised, and calling us 'Maggie Thatcher's Children acting like capitalist consumers'. Oooh that hurts. It has all the hallmarks of Herr Kieran Allen in one of his parental lectures to the children of the revolution. In any case, this article describes the real involvement of the SWP in the Mayday events and will hopefully pre-empt any more of their attempts to re-write history which have already begun. read full story / add a comment

Captain Blue and his team, acting under instruction from Captain White, have unearthed the person responsible for sitting on the British Ambassador’s October 2 1969 letter in which the owner of the Irish Times, combining both racism and sectarianism, called his editor a "renegade or white nigger" on “northern questions”. The orginal story and a copy of the letter can be seen at: http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=64231 This is an Indymedia Exclusive - you read it here first. read full story / add a comment |
