In a new twist in the ongoing dispute between members and officials of Sligo Borough Council, that has resulted in no borough council meeting having been held for four weeks. It has emerged that more than ten staff have lodged formal complaints with management alleging bullying and harassment by a member of the council.

Water is in the process of being privatised by stealth. Citizens must inform themselves regarding the ongoing process to hand our water over to a private multi-national company to make profit and learn from the experiences in other jurisdicitons where privatisation has brought hardship to communities and particulatly to the most vulnerable members. Over 60 people participated in the Anti War demonstration organised by the Anti War Movement and Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Ballymote Co. Sligo today. The demonstration took place near the site of the Michael Corcoran monument which was being unveiled by New York’s Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.

The Sligo Anti War group and Palestine Solidarity Campaign will hold a Peace Vigil in Ballymote, Co Sligo, on Tuesday morning next (August 22nd) in solidarity with the people of Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq. Those participating are asked to assemble outside the Pastoral Centre (opposite the Catholic Church) at 10.30.a.m.

The peace demonstration will take place near the site of the Michael Corcoran monument, which is to be unveiled by Mayor Bloomberg of New York, at 11.00.a.m.
