Schools throughout Ireland are preparing for a bet with the government to highlight that more can be done to reduce harmful emissions of greenhouse gases in Ireland. The schools will bet with the Department for the Environment that they can reduce their energy consumption (hence CO2 emissions) a rate faster than the government proposes for the country as a whole. An 8% reduction in eight months as opposed to the government’s target of 8% in eight years was set for the schools in this year’s environmental project ‘the Irish BET’. read full story / add a comment

Already Colaiste Ide (the CDVEC school providing adult education full time courses in Finglas) has had students dropping out as they cannot afford to pay for child care. read full story / add a comment
