Solidarity against repression! An appeal by Russian leftist organizations to our comrades worldwide. Saturday 16 February 2013, by Russian Socialist Movement (RSD) Two months ago, we, representatives of the Russian left, asked for your solidarity in the face of the coming wave of political repressions in Russia [1] Alas, today this call is even more urgent than before. It is no longer an exaggeration to compare the political trials taking place right now to the prosecution of Russian populists in the late nineteenth century. The number of possible sentences resulting from the so-called "riots" of May 6, 2012 has steadily climbed over twenty, and the majority of the detainees have spent many months in jail awaiting trial. read full story / add a comment

Unions, which organized the rallies, claimed more than 100,000 people attended, with 60,000 marching in Dublin. Demonstrators also protested in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Sligo and Waterford. "It would be fatal for people to believe this issue is now resolved and we can all move on," David Begg a supposed Union leader said. "At the onset of the crisis Ireland had one of the lowest debt to GDP ratios in Europe. The difference between then and now is due entirely to Ireland socializing bank debt at the behest of the ECB, to save the European banking system." read full story / add a comment

international / environment / news report Thursday January 31, 2013 18:28 by Emilio José Lemos de Lima
In this process truly poetic rather than scientific, in which consortia of species succeed in building an environment increasingly rich and varied, every plant, every animal, every micro-organism has its contributory role, being the man for the first time in history, leaving his sad protagonist role of stingy tormentor of nature and life and move creatively to assume the coordination of the construction process. Throughout the process disappears the necessity of introducing the classic Fordist agriculture inputs: the live system produces himself the nutrients needed, regardless of chemical fertilizer, all seeds and seedlings can now be obtained locally, are not required the pesticides, pests are controlled by the multiplicity of species that evolve together, there is no monoculture, there is work, activity, harvesting, planting and management throughout the year. read full story / add a comment

international / workers issues / press release Sunday January 27, 2013 21:45 by Elric
Blacklisting of workers is a `National scandal' and the scandal is that it has gone on for so long and not enough was done by those shouting the loudest now. Millions of people would be forgiven for thinking that the illegal blacklisting of over 3,000 construction workers has suddenly been discovered. Yet it has been the worst kept secret for over two decades that those who spoke up with concerns for Health and Safety on construction sites or defended wages and conditions were punished and denied employment. Brave people paid a heavy price as each year, each month, each day brought more discrimination - more lives were being wrecked, houses lost to repossession, stress induced ill health, heart attacks and even worse. read full story / add a comment
