Forget so-called conspiracy theories. Instead look at reality. Dare ask yourselves who actually seems to have benefited from the 9-11 calamity. In light of the debt ceiling debates and continuous politics as usual of Washington D.C., it is time for the American people and individual states of this federation to look at a troubling set of facts. There seems to have been “several” beneficiaries of 9-11 that don’t exactly fit the story line we were constantly fed by the propaganda machine and mainstream media as to how to connect the dots (which we were rhetorically asked to do). read full story / add a comment

Today marks three months since the Dublin Food Co-op received a complaint of ‘physical assault and violent aggression’ on the premises. Rachel Peavoy was a 30 year old mother of two young boys. On Jan 11 2010 Rachel froze to death in her home which she had pleaded with her landlords Dublin City Council to be moved for 3 years without success. Her living conditions were of inhumane standards. She was isolated in a derelict block of flats with major anti social and drug dealing problems and also major maintenance problems. We want answers to why she was left to die in such conditions by Ireland's biggest landlord Dublin City Council. Many more still live in such conditions and this should never be allowed happen again. The human rights of these people need to be respected. read full story / add a comment

Join us on June 11th for the launch of the Campaign for the Old City Arts Building (COCAB). Our aim is to take back the Old City Arts building, 23-25 Mosse St (near Tara dart station) which has been abandoned for nearly a decade and is now part of the National Assets Management Agency (NAMA). We want the building to be opened up for use as an educational and cultural space, managed collectively by anyone who wants to take part, independent of private or state institutions. We also want to broaden this by demanding that the NAMA legislation be changed so that all disused NAMA buildings can be used by the citizens for social and cultural projects, social housing or (in the case of undeveloped land) community gardens. It is clear that the politics of ‘elected representatives’ has completely failed in the context of the crisis- only people power and direct action can bring real change. read full story / add a comment

It has been weird being in Dublin security city the past week. It reminds me a lot of growing up in the police state of Queensland/Australia in the late '70's. On Thursday, I was stopped and searched by police five times before noon and shaken down by the Special Branch 3 times over the two daze. My poster (photo of Giusepe Conlon...with the words "Remember Giuseppe Conlon and All Victims of Empire") remains in police custody, confiscated by an Inspector under State Security legislation. Yesterday morning, I had the poster that appears in this clip of Giuseppe Conlon with the wording "Remember Giuseppe Conlon and all Victims of Empire" confiscated by a Gardai inspector under some state security legislation. I had been phoned by the Gardai about 11 pm the night before saying a friend of mine was in custody chargeed woth a pUblic Order offense and needed a lawyer and that he wouldbe appearing at the new court on Infimary Rd. I had been unable to get back to where I was staying as the city was closed down and had crashed on another friend's floor. As I made my way to the court Thursday morning, a young Gard said she would not let me through her checkpoint with the sign. I asked if she could hang on to it and I would be back in 4o mins. She agreed. After realsing I could not cross the road I returned to that checkpoint and the sign was gone. She pointed out the inspector that had seized the sign. I approached him and I said if read full story / add a comment

After 28 years of operation, Dublin Food Co-op is chronically sick: divorced from its founding principles and acutely dysfunctional. Following a deeply troubling incident in March, this author – until recently one of its most committed volunteers – has found it necessary to part ways.
