A huge United States navy guided missile destroyer once again sits at the quays in Cobh at the centre of Cork Harbour, her presence causing the closure for the third time in six months of the popular local walking path known as the Five Foot Way. read full story / add a comment

A publication called Centre Focus is a regular newspaper funded by FAS. It uses as an office the Centre for The unemployed North Main st.

The building is owned by Cork Council of Trade unions. In a series of tabloid style articles it has raised concerns about sterotyping and attackiing those that are involved in progressive activist work and in particular the greater understanding between different ethnic and religous groups.

Many complaints have been made about its editorial style but why is it not being discussed on a wider format.? read full story / add a comment

On Tuesday 24th of October University College Cork's International Relations Society (IRSOC) had an information stand in ArŠs Na Mac Leinn to coincide with UN day. Members of the society throughout the day operated the stand and they had many materials with information on the UN. read full story / add a comment

Mags Oí Donoghue, Chairperson of the West Cork Parents Action Group and her fellow committee members are mighty women when it comes to organising information evenings and workshops for parents of children with special education needs. On Thursday 29th September WCPAG had another line up of interesting and informative speakers at a well-attended event at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway. Itís fair to say that WCPAG are making a significant impact on the level of awareness of our childrenísí educational and other needs and that parents, professionals, service providers and teachers in West Cork have much to be grateful to them for. read full story / add a comment

350 people took to the streets in Cork on Saturday in a solidarity march with
the national demonstration in Dundalk called by the Irish Palestine Solidarity
Campaign and the Irish Anti War Movement..
The local march was organised by the IPSC, Cork Alliance Against War - The Cork
affiliate of the Irish Anti War Movement, and Anti War Ireland.
Local TD's Kathleen Lynch (Labour) Dan Boyle (Green Party)and Councillor Mick
Barry (Socialist Party) spoke to the crowd, with Jim Bowen from the IPSC, Pat
