Jan 27th Deadline for Submissions on Govt Bill to Prevent Citizens Objections to Bad Planning & Developments

The government is bringing in legislation that will more or less remove your right to object to various types of planning applications and will give free reign to developers and private companies to do as they please. The new rules would require objections only from established interest groups that are in existence at least 3 years and have more than 100 members for that time. Fees will also be far higher. This means if someone wants to put a motorway outside your door and dig a quarry in the field beside you, or build a windfarm outside your front window, a sewage works over the wall, then you have to have known about it somehow three years in advance, have formed an interest group and have 100 members, not 99 or 50 or 20 but 100 !

Friends of the Irish Environment are calling on citizens and citizens group to make their voices heard during the submission period to make our opposition clear to the State. The rights of citizens to access our courts goes back to the Magna Carta.

Submission can be made until January 27, 2020.
Submission site: https://www.housing.gov.ie/housing/public-consultation-general-scheme-housing-and-planning-and-development-bill-2019

On Thursday 9th March 2006 four Peace Activists were acquitted at Shannon District Court as the charges brought by An Garda Siochána were withdrawn at the behest of the D.P.P.

These charges regarded an incident at Shannon Airport on the 17th September 2005 where a group of members from Na Cosantóirí Síochána (the Peace Network) hung a banner on the balcony at the airport to protest the use of Shannon Airport by the CIA in the illegal programme of “Extraordinary Rendition”

And what are kingdoms but fair thievish purchases? For what are thieves’ purchases but little kingdoms? For in thefts the hands of the underlings are directed by the commander, the confederacy of them is sworn together, and the pillage is shared by the law amongst them. And if those ragamuffins grow up to be able enough to keep forts, build habitations, possess cities, and conquer adjoining nations, then their government is no more called thievish, but graced with the eminent name of a kingdom, given and gotten, not because they have left their practices, but because now they may use them without danger of law. read full story / add a comment

4 people were up for mention regarding the banner drop last month, and Owen Rice was up for mention yet again for arrests that took place almost two years ago (and for which his co-arrestee was acquitted)
There were a number of submissions, and then adjourments. read full story / add a comment

While planespotting OUTSIDE Shannon Warport in broad daylight last Sunday, some planespotters found themselves on the receiving end of a fit of madness from one of the APOs who decided somehow that he had jurisdiction outside his patch. Peace activist Ed Horgan (ex Irish Army Commandant) has been arrested at Shannon Airport for taking a picture of a US Hercules aircraft. This picture was taken in a public area. It looks as though the Irish State will stoop to nothing in its desparation to hide the evidence of illegal US troop movements. A private jet similar to the ones chartered by the CIA for illegal transport of prisoners for the purposes of torture was also spotted by him. He was unable to confirm this because he was arrested. read full story / add a comment

That's the same workforce who were force- fed the story that their jobs depended on US military use of the airport.
Other lies surround the economic arguments of US Military use of Shannon Airport. read full story / add a comment
