Both yesterday and today, residents in a number of housing estates in the Dundrum and Ballinteer area came out to greet the bin men and talk with them to ensure all bins were collected. The relationship between the residents and bin men was very friendly, as they realize the people are behind them and with privatisation looming, their jobs and job conditions are on the line. read full story / add a comment

THE BIN Tax battle is heading into its fourth week in the Fingal area. Recent events have seen a huge rift erupt between the working class communities fighting the bin tax and the Council. Despite attempts to arrest and imprison yet more activists, the campaign has continued undaunted - much to the Council and Government's displeasure. read full story / add a comment

Thursday September 25th saw solidarity blockades taking place in at least 3 local communities that I know of. Stoneybatter, Finglas & East Wall all blockaded trucks for periods of time this morning. Another was scheduled for the early evening in another area of the city, although I have heard no news of that. These are only the actions that I know of through personal contacts so there may have been more in other areas. This is an account of the Stoneybatter blockade which I took part in. read full story / add a comment

David Beggs, General Secretary of ICTU has stabbed the Anti Bin Charges Campaign in the back. Instead of opposing double taxation, Beggs has supported the bin charges.

He condemns campaigners for breaking the law! If Larkin and Connolly had obeyed the law where would the Trade Union movement be today?

Show him that he doesnt represent you. Contact Beggs and demand that ICTU support the Campaign and the release of Joe and Clare.
