War preparations against Iran continue. In the US, legislation, which includes sanctions against Iran's Central Bank and strict curbs on official diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran, was approved unanimously by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives.

The first bill, the Iran, North Korea and Syria Nonproliferation Reform and Modernization Act, would impose penalties against any individual or company – foreign as well as domestic – that has facilitated the transfer of equipment that could be used in Iran's nuclear programme. It also would bar access to the U.S. of any vessels that have visited ports of any of the three countries in the last two years.

Among other provisions,the second bill would sharply reduce the president's authority to waive existing sanctions against any individual, company or country doing business with Iran; expand existing sanctions against companies that sell Iran refined petroleum to include any barter transactions; and impose sanctions against any individual, company or country that conducts a transaction with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is believed to control as much as 40 percent of the Iran's national economy.

Stop the War leaders are trying to stifle debate by illegally expelling those who criticise them -

On 23 September, the CPGB-ML received an email from the Stop the War Coalition informing us of a decision by the "officers group" to "reject the affiliation" of our party. We were told that this was on the basis that the CPGB-ML had been "publicly attacking Stop the War Coalition" in its publications.

We responded as follows:

No basis for expulsion

First: we have been affiliated for many years to the coalition. Therefore it is not now possible to reject our affiliation. If it can be proved that we have failed to comply with StW's constitution in some way, then we would have to be expelled. read full story / add a comment

In the days prior to the Loughgall executions Jim Lynagh had a meeting at his flat in Dublin Street, Monaghan Town with one of his Intelligence Officers. Lynagh often worked one-on-one with people in order to minimise the risk of infiltration by the security forces. In his final meeting with this individual Jim Lynagh handed over a small black box for safe keeping, it was Lynagh’s view that following the Loughgall attack his flat in Dublin Street would be raided and he did not want the Gardai to find his black box in which we now know he kept his personal diaries. Civilian passenger numbers are still falling at Shannon airport which is now downgraded to Ireland's third airport after Dublin and Cork. Yet, there were four US troop carrying aircraft at Shannon at 9.30 am today Sept 15, and probably several more during this 24 hour period. These four planes carry at least a total of 1,000 armed troops and perhaps up to 1,200. On this 10th anniversary of 9/11 attacks there are many things to reflect on and in this article we are going to focus on the relationship between 9/11 and the political 'Left'. Today 10 years later, the public particularly in the US seems quite dividved as numerous polls show that a majority of US citizens don't accept the official story and a significant portion believe the government was involved in one form or another. The mainstream media though is still very much on page with the official version of events. The details of the topic itself are divisive and two clear camps have arisen with opposing views and very little common ground between. At this stage many people are simply tired of discussing it and wish to move on.
