IRISH POLITICIANS BETRAY GAZA
Irish political representatives shamefully abstain in crucial UN vote on Gaza

Ireland and 16 other EU countries abstained from the UN Human Rights Council resolution to set up a commission of inquiry into Gaza. Apparently over "concerns that the draft text was unbalanced, inaccurate and prejudges the outcome of the investigation." The resolution was approved with 29 votes in favour, one against (the United States) and 17 abstentions. More details see here
Ireland's ambassador to the UN Patricia O'Brien today said Ireland had
"a very valid reason not to support the resolution."
Yeah right Patricia, and the reason was our masters in the US embassy told us not to vote in favour and our spineless politicians meekly obeyed.

Update 03/08/2014:Just hours after an attack on a United Nations-operated school took the lives of 20 civilians last week, the US announced it would resupply Israeli military with new ammunition to further their campaign on the war-ravaged city. Only several days later, the US Congress overwhelmingly approved an emergency measure to grant Israel $225 million in additional funding to boost the country’s missile defense capabilities. "

UPDATE 12th August: So far Israel has killed over 1949 Palestinians including
449 children. 9891 injured, including over 3000 children.
This count is increasing by the hour.

The mining bosses have offered increases of approximate 6.1% (just below the rate of inflation)

It seems very likely that the US, backed by UK,France etc, is going to attack Syria very soon.

Regardless of what we think of the Assad regime and its crimes we should oppose this intervention which will only make matters worse and is only designed to further imperialist interests.

As we don’t know exactly when this will occur the Irish Anti-War Movement is calling a protest at the Spire for 6pm ON THE DAY OF THE ATTACK or THE NEXT DAY IF THE ATTACK IS AT NIGHT.

Today the mainstream media are claiming that there has been a chemical attack by the Syrian government near Damascus even whilst an UN inspection team arrives. The reports have been conflicting with the initial reports claiming 280 victims and then later up-ing it to over 1,300 killed.

However, the claims are predominantly coming from the so called Free Syrian Army who are backed and funded by some of the despotic Gulf States, as well as Saudi Arabia and by the Western powers principally France, USA and UK. This same group is made up mercenaries of all kinds including members of Al Qaeda who want to turn the country backwards and bring in Sharia Law and just back in May 2013 the UN accused the Syrian rebels of using chemical weapons.

What is most telling though is that it makes absolutely no sense for the Syrian government to do this. In recent months they have retaken areas held by rebels and seem to have repelled several attack campaigns in the past two year. And France in particular as well as the other powers have been consistently in the last year being trying to throw the mud of chemical weapons and then chemical weapon attacks in a clear effort to force public opinion to back no-fly zones and from there total demolition of the country and invasion followed later by a pliant regime. The end game is to clear the way for an attack on Iran which the crazies have been pushing hard for many years. ... read full story / add a comment

The despotic House of Saud scatters its money around, causing mayhem throughout the Arab World. Money that is stolen from ordinary Saudis by the parasitic royal family. Finian Cunningham explains what is really going on. Full text at link.

If Saudi rulers had more brains, they might be formidably dangerous. Even with lackluster intelligence assets, they are already causing enough havoc and bloodshed across the Middle East and North Africa regions, pouring millions-of-dollars-worth of weaponry into Al Qaeda and other Takfiri networks that are destroying once proud civilizations in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Libya through nihilistic sectarianism.

And if the Saudi paymasters of terrorism could have it all their way, they would salivate at the chance of extending this destruction to Iran - the Shia power that they fear as their nemesis.

Fortunately, the Saudi rulers’ agenda of covert terrorism - an agenda that serves its Western masters - is not well concealed. This is because “Saudi state intelligence” is something of an oxymoron and leaves a trail of self-incriminating clues wherever it goes ... read full story / add a comment

This won't please the US, they will now have to find some other ruse to didrupt the UN process. Full text at link.

The Syrian government has accepted the ‘essential modalities’ under which the UN was ready to investigate whether chemical weapons had been used in the country, the body has announced, signalling that experts will shortly be travelling to Syria.

"The departure of the team is now imminent," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement. “As agreed with the Government of Syria, the team will remain in the country to conduct its activities, including on-site visits, for a period of up to 14 days, extendable upon mutual consent.”

The Secretary-General has expressed his appreciation to the Syrian government for accepting “the modalities essential for cooperation to ensure the proper, safe and efficient conduct of the Mission.”

The statement also reminded that the use of chemical weapons “by any side under any circumstances” would constitute an “outrageous crime.

The bloody dissolution of the sit-ins in Al-Nahda Square and Raba'a al-Adawiyya is nothing but a massacre—prepared in advance. It aims to liquidate the Muslim Brotherhood. But, it is also part of a plan to liquidate the Egyptian Revolution and restore the military-police state of the Mubarak regime.

The Revolutionary Socialists did not defend the regime of Mohamed Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood for a single day. We were always in the front ranks of the opposition to that criminal, failed regime which betrayed the goals of the Egyptian Revolution. It even protected the pillars of the Mubarak regime and its security apparatus, armed forces and corrupt businessmen. We strongly participated in the revolutionary wave of 30 June.

Neither did we defend for a single day the sit-ins by the Brotherhood and their attempts to return Mursi to power. ... read full story / add a comment

Pat Rabbitte is the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has walked away with a pension more than those working 30 years could save up for..

4 years service in the dail, means pat rabbitte of labour will walk away with a staggering 150 k pension per year,at a low 5% rate of tax,and he had the cheek to call us freeloaders when it came to the television license.

This man gets a whopping 150k a year -for a measly 4 years service in the dail, which begs the question how many other ministers are availing of overblown pensions like these and under what wafer thin conditions?

If we are to talk about people taking cuts, surley ministers pensions should be also laid out on the table, like nurses pay, teachers pay and garda pay and those on the state pension and welfare.
