To whom it may concern: The list of manufacturers here are just some of the business's in the south of Ireland that are connected with the machinery of imperialist wars. Can we get a discussion going leading to a widespread, coordinated and effective campaign, with the goal of ending the manufacturing of any military components or devices in Ireland for war?

It was done in the north, we can do it in the south. See The Raytheon 9 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raytheon_9 and related links.

Chris Marsden writes on how the UN have finally accepted that Syria is in the throes of a Civil War. Also on the build up of US equipment and troops in Jordan and false reporting about Alawite on Alawite violence. Full text at link.

A United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has finally admitted that a sectarian civil war is raging in Syria. Its findings are based upon extensive investigations and interviews between September 28 to December 16, 2012.

They detail massacres and gross violations of human rights that have polarised Syria between the supporters of a Sunni insurgency and those Sunnis and various minority groups that have aligned themselves with the Alawite-led Ba’athist regime out of fear that its downfall will produce a yet more brutal Sunni chauvinist alternative. ... read full story / add a comment

Joshua Brollier writes on the latest shooting of a Palestinian farmer, Mohammed Qdeih, by the IDF. Joshua also documents the story of ninety five years old Ahmed Hassan Jabbar Qdeih. Ahmed tells how Zionist militias terrorized his farm in 1948. Ahmed was detained, along with his family, and taken to their house where they were forced to watch as his father was murdered in front on them. The militias destroyed their home, bombed the well and set ablaze 60 dunams of land. Additionally, they stole 60 sheep and two cows to take with them. Full text at link.

Yesterday in al-Faraheen, Gaza , Israeli Occupation Forces shot and wounded an unarmed 22 year oldfarmer, Mohammed Qdeih, from behind. Mohamed and nine others went out to their fields in the early afternoon, walking approximately 250 meters from the Israeli border. Within minutes, two heavily armed Israeli military jeeps rushed to the security fence. They issued a warning for the farmers and residents to leave the area and shortly thereafter the Palestinians, intimidated by the heavy military presence, began to head back tothe village of Abasan . The soldiers were not satisfied and opened fire, piercing Mohamed's right arm from the backside. Israeli forces continued to shoot rounds of live ammunition while Mohamed and the others frantically evacuated and waited for an ambulance. Another young Palestinian, 19, was shot yesterday near the border in Jabaliya. ... read full story / add a comment

Once again the Imperialists are using chemical weapons as a pretext to plan an attack on Syria. Patriot missiles are being moved to Turkeys border with Syria and these weapons require US personnel. Full text at link.

The Obama administration and the corporate media have cited unspecified “intelligence” about the movement of chemical weapons to issue new threats of direct intervention in Syria, where Washington and its allies have been backing so-called “rebels” in a bid to topple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton both made public statements Monday alleging a danger of Syria using chemical weapons and threatening US retaliation. ... read full story / add a comment

You are invited to a lunchtime talk and discussion on the recent Israeli attack on Gaza. The meeting will take place on Thursday 29th November from 1pm to 2pm in Theatre M in the Newman Building in UCD.

The meeting will look at the recent 8 day assault on Gaza by the Israeli military - which left at least 160 Palestinians and 5 Israeli citizens dead, and saw hundreds of others wounded – and discuss the conflict in terms of both local and regional geopolitical developments: upcoming Israeli elections; the Arab Spring; the drive for war with Iran; the political de-isolation of Hamas; the Palestinian UN statehood bid, etc. It will also look at what the offensive meant in terms of human and civil suffering.

When is a political tribunal ‘non-political’? Hands Off the People of Iran national secretary Mark Fischer responds to the latest salvo of pro-imperialist apologetics

Hands Off the People of Iran and the Weekly Worker have been sent a document authored by Dariosh Afshar, associate member of the Iran Tribunal’s International Communications Work Group. The Iran Tribunal, set up by exiled anti-regime Iranians, was convened to investigate Tehran’s massacre of some 15,000 political prisoners in the 1980s, but has been shown by Hopi and this paper to be a body that objectively aids the US-led drive to impose - by military or other means - regime change from above on Iran. ... read full story / add a comment

A horrifying amateur video from Syria emerged online, showing an apparent mass execution of Assad supporters in Aleppo at the hands of rebels from the Free Syria Army.
The footage shows several bloodied men stripped down to their underwear being forced to kneel by a wall amidst a throng of excited, machine gun-touting men.
Once their captors open fire, the camera jerks away as the crowd momentarily disperses, seemingly unprepared for the nearly 40 seconds of uninterrupted shooting that follows. As the gunfire dies down, shouts of “Allahu Akbar!” resound as the once skittish onlookers victoriously raise their guns in the air, approaching what appears to be a pile of stripped-down corpses. ... read full story / add a comment

In an exclusive interview with RT, Syrian President Bashar Assad said he will not leave Syria. Assad also spoke on the calls for armed foreign intervention in Syria, and the possible fallout on the country’s internal conflict and across the region.

“We are the last stronghold of secularism and stability in the region and coexistence, let’s say, it will have a domino effect that will affect the world from the Atlantic to the Pacific and you know the implication on the rest of the world,” Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad told RT in an exclusive interview that will air on Friday, November 9.

“I am not a puppet. I was not made by the West to go to the West or to any other country,” he said. “I am Syrian, I was made in Syria, I have to live in Syria and die in Syria,” Assad said during the interview. ... read full story / add a comment

So called Syrian "freedom fighters" claiming to be rebelling against atrocities committed by the Assad government are seen here massacring wounded men on the ground. If that's not an atrocity, what is?
RTE have been reporting in a very one sided manner on Syria, painting these "rebels" in a good light while putting the boot into the Assad "regime" at every opportunity. Our Taniste went on a one sided tirade against the leadership in Syria for 15 minutes of the prime time program recently before going to the UN to urge them to create a no fly zone in Syria. These murdering thugs in this video are the people they are protecting. Tanaiste, RTE, you have blood on your hands! ... read full story / add a comment
