Former Irish Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern suggested that "cover" for any US torture taxis that "surfaced" would be provided through random inspections at Shannon, a new confidential cable on the Wikileaks site reveals.Ahern said that he "could use a little more information" about US flights in 2007, “musing that it might not be a bad idea to allow the random inspection of a few planes to proceed, which would provide cover if a rendition flight ever surfaced”, stated former US ambassador to Ireland Thomas Foley.

At about 6pm Thursday December 16th., Julian Assange emerged from Britain's HIgh Court on the Strand, London. He had finally been released on bail after nine days in solitary confinement at Wandsworth Prison.
